Vegan & Plant-Based Fabrics

Some brands need a luxury handle without animal fibre — for a vegan line, a certification requirement, or simply a customer who asks. We produce a plant-based range alongside the cashmere.

Fabrics and finished pieces

As a rough planning figure, 50 metres of 44″ fabric yields approximately 20–25 blouses.

What these fibres are like

• Soybean — often called vegetable cashmere for its soft handle; biodegradable.
• Hemp — strong, breathable, softens considerably with wear and washing.
• Tencel / lyocell — fluid drape, high moisture management, produced in a closed-loop solvent process.
• Lotus, rose and aloe — speciality fibres with a distinctive matte handle; best judged by sample rather than description.

A note on claims

Plant-based is not automatically low-impact, and we would rather say so than let the page imply otherwise. Processing route, dyeing and transport all matter. What we can state: we use natural and azo-free dyes, and our yarn suppliers include OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified and GOTS-aligned sources. Those certifications sit with the suppliers, not with Pashmina Studio. If your market requires a specific certification on the finished garment, raise it before sampling so we can confirm what is achievable.

Ordering

• Lead time: approximately 45–60 working days from confirmed order.
• Sampling: we strongly recommend sampling this range — these fibres behave differently from cashmere and are best assessed in hand.
• Terms: 50% advance, balance before dispatch, quoted FOB Kathmandu.
