Wholesale Cashmere for Boutiques and Independent Retailers

A boutique buys differently from a chain. You need depth in the colours that sell in your shop, not a container of one style, and you cannot afford a season of stock that sits. Our minimums are built for that.

What a realistic first order looks like

Most independent shops over-buy on styles and under-buy on colours. The mistake is expensive: you end up with one of everything and nothing in the shade your customers keep asking for.

Approach What it looks like Why
Narrow and deep Two woven stole styles, four colours each, plus one knitted piece You learn which colours move before committing to a wider range. Reorders are then easy to get right.
One hero, one entry A featherlight 100 × 200 stole alongside a heavier reversible piece Gives you two price points on the shelf without two separate development cycles.
Neutrals first Ivory, charcoal, camel, a single strong accent Neutrals carry across seasons and can be reordered without looking like last year’s stock.
Test blankets separately Five pieces total, one to three per colour Blankets are a high-value, slower-turning line. Test small before you commit shelf space.

Mixing across an order

You can mix styles and colours within a single order as long as each line meets its own minimum. A typical boutique order combines several woven styles in a few colourways each, plus a small knitted run, shipped together.

Product Minimum per style Minimum per colour
Woven stoles, shawls, scarves 50 pieces 10 pieces
Knitted pieces 20 pieces per style 20 pieces per colour
Blankets and throws 5 pieces total 1–3 pieces
Ready stock vs. made to order. Where a style and colour already exist in our range, lead time is shipping only. Where you want your own colourway or construction, count 45–60 working days of production after sample approval. If your season is tight, start from an existing construction and change the colour rather than developing a new piece.

Your label or ours

Independent shops split roughly two ways on this. Some want the goods plain so they can apply their own shop label; others want no label complication at all. Both are straightforward.

  • Your own woven label and hang tag — treated as private label. See private label cashmere for artwork requirements and lead times on labels.
  • Unbranded with care label only — composition and care information as required by your market, no brand mark.
  • Pashmina Studio labelling — where you want the Nepal origin visible on the product.

Reordering the same thing next season

This is where most small retailers get caught out, and it is worth understanding before your first order rather than after it.

Dye lots vary. Two batches of the same shade, dyed months apart, will not be laboratory-identical — that is true of every dye house in the world, not just Nepal. What you can do is control it:

  • Keep your approved lab dip. It is the reference for every future run of that colour.
  • Tell us at the time of your first order that the colour will be repeated, so the recipe is recorded against your account.
  • Where possible, order the full season’s quantity of a colour in one dye lot and hold it, rather than splitting into two runs.
  • Accept that a repeat is a commercial match, not an identical one, and avoid merchandising old and new stock of the same shade side by side.

Shipping, duty and your landed cost

Prices are quoted ex-works or FOB Kathmandu. Freight, insurance, import duty and local taxes are paid by the consignee. Your shelf price has to be built on the landed cost, not the invoice figure — a common and painful error on a first import.

Duty depends on your country, the product’s classification, its fibre composition and any trade preference that applies to goods of Nepali origin. There is no single answer, and anyone who gives you one without asking where you are importing to is guessing. Our import guide sets out exactly what to check and where to check it.
