Printing on cashmere: screen and digital printing for brands

Our partner print workshops in Kathmandu print on cashmere two ways: hand screen printing for bold designs in a few colours, and digital printing for detailed artwork with many colours. Both are done to your artwork and approved on a sample before production.

An example: sacred art on handwoven cashmere

Our collaboration with thangka master Romio Shrestha puts his sacred iconography — the Medicine Buddha, the Seven Chakras, the Skull Series — onto handwoven Himalayan cashmere using digital printing, in strictly limited editions. It shows what digital printing allows: fine linework and dense colour that would need dozens of screens.

Branding beyond print

Most brands and corporate buyers brand cashmere quietly. The options we offer:

  • Woven labels sewn into the piece, plus care labels and hang tags. See private label.
  • A printed logo or motif, screen or digital, placed where you specify.
  • Your colours, matched to Pantone references or a physical swatch. See dyeing and colour matching.
  • Packaging to your brief, for retail or corporate gifting.

If you need embroidery, tell us in the brief and we will confirm whether we can do it for your design before you commit.

Getting a print right

  1. Send artwork at final size with colour references.
  2. We advise on method and placement, and flag anything that will not reproduce on a fine cashmere surface.
  3. A printed sample is made for approval of colour, position and hand-feel.
  4. Production follows the approved sample, with the standard 45–60 working days.

Buyer questions

Can you print my logo on cashmere scarves?

Yes, by screen or digital printing depending on the design. A sample is printed for approval first.

Does printing affect the softness?

Ink sits in and on the surface, so a printed area can feel slightly different from unprinted cashmere. You judge it on the sample before production.

What is the minimum for printed scarves?

The standard 50 pieces per style and colourway applies.

What artwork format do you need?

Vector files with separated colours for screen printing; a high-resolution file at final print size for digital printing.
